Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian
Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels
This splendid painting was created by the painter from Bologna for the alter of the saint at Saint Peter's at the Vatican, but in order to protect it from humidity, it was moved to Santa Maria degli Angeli in 1727 and substituted with a mosaic. The Saint Sebastian painted on the wall, was literally cut and torn out with surgical precision.
