The Holy Family

Luca d'Egidio di Ventura

DESCRIZIONE:
This work, trasferred to the Uffizi in 1802, comes from the Audience Hall of the Palazzo dei Capitani di Parte Gulfa, where it was seen by Giorgio Vasari. Standing out with monumental impetus in the circular space of the panel arte the Virgin, seated and intent on reading, and her young Son standing with St. Joseph beside hin in a devout attitude.
The eye is caught by a few essential details: the two open books, the magnificent scarf around Joseph's neck, and the traverelers approaching a castle on the left in the background landscape.
