Underground Tunnels

Pietro Micca Museum

DESCRIZIONE:
These tunnels are found at a depth of five to six metres and they have remained almost completely intact over time. The 14 km of passages and the winding branches mark the positions of fortifications that no longer exist, such as the reinforcement demilune where the toughest battle of the siege took place, with 14 of the 38 mines used to defend the city exploding. One of the sites of greatest interest is the mined set of steps where Pietro Micca sacrificed himself for the city. The location was only identified in 1958.
