Baptism of Christ
The scuptor from Lombardy, the principal student of Bernini, created this sculptural group for the main alter of the church designed by Borromini. The scene is marked by a rich theatricality, typical of the baroque. This can be seen particularly in the back section which culminates with the Holy Father in Glory. To the sides of the altar are the tombs of the family that commissioned the work, the Falconieri.
