Bust of Olimpia Maidalchini
This marble statue shows the famous sister-in-law of Pope Innocent X Pamphilj (1644-55), known to history for her ambition and political intrigues. Wife of Pamphilio Pamphili, brother of the Pope, in the city she was nicknamed the popess and Pimpaccia. This is one of the masterpieces of  Algardi, and one of the highest representations of baroque art in Rome.
