Casanova used to hang out at the gambling houses which stood by Calle Vallaresso. Today if you are looking for that same type of entertainment you can go to Ca' Vendramin Calergi, the palace overlooking the Grand Canal housing the Venice Casino since 1638. It is the oldest gambling house of the world, housing several rooms for French games and tables for American games, in addition to the slot machines section. The palace was the home of Richard Wagner from 1882 to 1883, the year of his death, and it now houses the Museum dedicated to the great master. Inside there is the Wagner restaurant, the Ballroom and a garden. The Casino also operates in a separate venue at Ca’ Noghera, just a few minutes from Marco Polo airport.
