Lovers

Giacomo Manzoni

DESCRIZIONE:
During the 1970s the theme of the Lovers underwent a development, being reproduced in animated, excited groups in which clothes drawn back to reveal elements of the female body become the cue for a subtle, malicious game not unlike the Striptease iconography Manzù made use of during the same period. Conceived around a centripetal movement, the plastic rendition of the composition develops into an outward surge. The limbs create a whirling movement that expands into space. The undulating surface of the clothes comes close to being Neobaroque.
