Tribune

Museum of Palazzo Grimani

DESCRIZIONE:
In the mid sixteenth century Giovanni Grimani, patriarch of Aquileia, decided to construct a new palace wing to house his own collection of antiquities (now the Archaeological Museum). The centre of this space was the extraordinary tribune, conceived by Giovanni himself as a museum with a central floor plan and multicoloured niches to hold the most important pieces, illuminated by a lacunar ceiling that was open in the centre.
