Mooring rings

Mooring rings
The line of the wharfs was punctuated at regular intervals by projecting rectangular blocks, some with a rounded projecting edge, with a vertical through hole. We are still not sure what these blocks were used for: they may have been mooring rings for boats or holes for inserting wooden cranes to load and unload goods. On the lower loading level, there were blocks with smaller, horizontal through holes, used to fasten the boats’ mooring lines.
