DESCRIZIONE:
It was the first of the twin churches built in September 1619 with the annexed convent of discalced Agostinians, no longer existing. It was consecrated by Charles Emmanuel I to San Carlo Borromeo, who in 1578 arrived on a pilgrimage from Milan to pray on the Holy Shroud.
Ferdinando Caronesi remade the façade in 1834, drawing inspiration from the Santa Cristina facade made by Juvarra on the opposite side of via Roma. The lavish baroque interior, with chapels decorated with marble sculptures and stuccoes, was rehabilitated by XIX-century restorations.
