Jacopo Robusti

Palazzo Ducale (The Doges’ Palace)

DESCRIZIONE:
Tintoretto’s enormous picture (measuring 7.45 x 24.65 m) decorates the walls behind the tribune of the Hall of the Great Council, where the Venetian Republic’s most important legislative organ met. This extraordinary composition was created by the artist, by now in his seventies, with the help of his son Domenico on separate canvases that were subsequently assembled in the hall.
